Today, our Development Director (Pere Mascaró) and I (Martín Millán) attended the QlikView Forum 2010 at the Hotel Rey Juan Carlos I in Barcelona. The presentation was truly productive and interesting, as was the product itself. We could summarize it simply: the tool is easy, fast, and compared to others in its sector, much more economical both in acquisition and maintenance, as its intuitive use means minimal training is required. In fact, they took the opportunity to announce the imminent launch of the new version 10 to attendees and explain some of the improvements it includes.
We believe that its manufacturer, Qliktech, resembles us in many aspects, both in its development concept and its obsession with ensuring that the end-user of its tool is autonomous, meaning they have minimal dependence on the software manufacturer.
Furthermore, we have been able to verify that QlikView is not only a tool for SMEs but is also being used in large companies such as Química Farmacética Bayer, Toyota Material Handling España, Laboratorios Hipra, Gestamp Automoción, etc. The directors of these companies personally attended the forum, actively participating in a very interesting round table moderated by journalist Ramón Pradera and featuring writer Leopoldo Abadia. This demonstrated that, as always, real experiences are what connect with people.
Finally, we secured a commitment from the manufacturer to hold a presentation in Mallorca in the future. I don’t think it will be as spectacular as today’s, which was a masterclass in how to deliver an engaging and interesting presentation.
For all these reasons, we believe that the decision made in 2008 to commit to this Business Intelligence tool was a complete success, and we are proud of it.
As an anecdotal note, and for the Timón Hotel logbook, upon our arrival in Barcelona, we coincided with David Villa, a footballer for F.C. Barcelona and the Spanish National Team.
