In 2023, we introduced the “Weather” widget to our hotel PMS, allowing reception staff to inform guests of the 5-day weather forecast.
Steps to activate it
1- Widget Configuration.
In the Timón Hotel JSON configuration file, specifically in the Config – General section, properties 9, 10, and 11 have been added to configure the weather widget.
WeatherWidget
Specify whether to obtain the forecast from the AEMET API (recommended), WWIS, or NONE (no widget). The AEMET API is more comprehensive and allows for displaying the forecast for any city.
Weather ApiKey
If AEMET was selected in the previous property, it is necessary to request the API Key, which will be provided quickly and free of charge via email. To do this, access the following link: https://opendata.aemet.es/centrodedescargas/inicio
WeatherCityDefault
Here, a city code different from that of the active establishment can be specified. This allows for the possibility of checking the forecast for two cities.
If two city codes are configured—the default and the establishment’s—an icon will be displayed in the widget next to the city name to switch between forecasts.
2- Establishment configuration
The widget will display the weather forecast for the city of the active establishment in Timón Hotel. Therefore, the code or ID of the city where the establishment is located must be indicated in the establishment record.
Depending on the selected API, the city code will vary and must be consulted in different files. For this reason, two icons have been added next to the new field to copy the URLs of each file to the clipboard.

Access the following URL: https://www.ine.es/daco/daco42/codmun/codmunmapa.htm and download the Excel file for all provinces.
WWIS
Access https://worldweather.wmo.int/es/json/full_city_list.txt
Not all cities appear in this file. For this reason, we recommend activating the AEMET API.
After following these steps, the widget will be displayed in the upper right corner of the application’s TODAY screen.
